The Sound of Music is a 1965 American musical drama film produced and directed by Robert Wise, and starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The students of St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School, Shillong performed it live on stage more than 20 years ago and was much acclaimed by the public. The musical tells the story of Maria, who takes a job as governess to a large family while she discerns whether to become a nun. She falls in love with the children and their widowed father, Captain von Trapp.
