What Size Volleyball Do Volleyballs Sizes Vary By Size Or Weight

I am asked at least twice a year about volleyball sizes, especially in the run up to Christmas. It is common for grandparents to buy a volleyball for a grandchild. But what size should they buy? In football, rugby and basketball the ball sizes vary by the physical size if the ball. They are labbeled as size 3, 4 and 5 and in basketball 5, 6 and 7. However in volleyball the size of a ball varies by weight. So what weight is an official volleyball and what weight is classed as a ball suitbale for a youth player. What age does a youth team player start to use a full weight ball? All of the questions are addressed in this valuable video.
