@Shelbizleeeمنذ 4 سنوات Hey guys! After some feedback and further research I have decided to match donations to more than Campaign Zero.
I understand that a large portion id="hidden2" class="buttons"> of the black community is advocating for radical change, and while I may not believe that method of advocacy is the most effective, I still want to be able to match donations to causes you can whole-heartedly support.
So please feel free to submit your donations from any of the orgs listed on this doc to be matched,
    Matching here,

@fionam5879منذ 4 سنوات Would be great if you were more explicit about barriers to sustainable practices e.g. when you say not everyone has access to bulk stores or shampoo bars id="hidden8" class="buttons"> this might be due to food equity/food deserts/planning and zoning and grocery stores avoiding predominantly black residential areas/don’t have the luxury of time to go to more than one grocery store or do research into sustainable brands or vegetable boxes/research into shampoo bars/beauty products not being formulated with natural hair in mind/and of course cost all being barriers that are a result of systemic and institutionalised racism and inequality. The link is probably clear and obvious to you but a lot of people (potentially younger viewers) need that education and explicit connection. ....وسعت 240

@gracebowman5642منذ 4 سنوات Another super frustrating thing about cycles of poverty and sustainability: we all know that in the US the backbone of our economy is cheaply made (but id="hidden9" class="buttons"> widely available) products and the truly sustainable products (which would save the consumer money in the long run) require more of an upfront cost. Producers know this and intentionally hook low-income consumers on the cheaply made product, and because the US has made building wealth near-impossible for POC and other marginalized groups, the cycle continues..just makes my blood boil. ....وسعت 38

I liked your video about swaps for beginners and more advance swaps, so maybe model this video off that one? @MissCarreauteeمنذ 4 سنوات Thank you for bringing up the first point about the 3 pillars of sustainability. Would love to hear you discuss this further!
I personnally think id="hidden38" class="buttons"> that going zero waste/living a sustainable lifestyle is one of MANY ways to use our priviledge as white people to avocate for social justice; by choosing not to contribute to a consumerist society that relies on the destruction of indigenous communities/other POC communities & their environment overseas (and at home), we are taking away a bit of the power of the corporations that profit off that abuse, and doing our best to prevent climate disasters that will affect those same communities mostly.
Obviously it's not the full picture, voting and speaking out are also critical, especially at this moment.

@annabeinglazy5580منذ 4 سنوات thank you so much for putting the correct meaning behind sustainability out here. I think one of my dad's favorite "jokes" about sustainability id="hidden43" class="buttons"> and "lets save the planet" branding is that, and I quote "the planet will be fine, it's just us that will be gone", as if somehow that invalidates striving for sustainability, and it drives me nuts. Like, yes, the planet will bounce back, it did so after the dinosaur age and will again. I would prefer if I can still live on it while it does tho, thank you very much.
Also thank you that you tackled the social and economic issues that are attached to sustainability. That tends to get ignored quite often and as a result , sustainability can come across as quite elitist, a thing that rich people do when they buy expensive reformation clothing. I have seen sth similar happen in the vegan community. For example, entire channels expecting that people can shop organic whole foods all the time. Or bulk shopping, which you cannot do if you live in a food desert and dont have a car. or if there are simply no bulk shops. I have also seen people flat out denying that such conditions can exist or blaming the ones in such conditions as if it was just laziness. thank you for not doing that.

I’ve also just made the investment in four pairs of Thinx (two separate orders, and if anyone decides to buy from them I highly encourage donating as well). Also bought WGAC recycled toilet paper and now I’m stocked up for like, the rest of my life. I try to keep track of my finances so the goal is to take what I saved as things pay for themselves and put that money into helping the community I live in. We just had a protest here and a few speakers really focused in on coming together as one. @BeccaDoesStuffYTمنذ 4 سنوات Thank you for the educational content as always! Thanks for touching on human rights and social justice issues as well! I was wondering if you could teach id="hidden47" class="buttons"> us how to research companies to see if they are sustainable/ethical. I am kind of having anxiety because I needed to replace my dish brush, I followed your link of a dish brush to amazon many times (since I have a tight budget and still have to shop on amazon for some stuff unfortunately) and it’s always showing as unavailable. So I searched and searched for an equivalent until I got dizzy. I finally purchased a different wooden dish brush, it was packaged & shipped without any plastic, it seems to be high quality, and I have been using it without any problems you might get with a cheap quality brush. BUT I somehow totally missed that it was made China, and I’ve been trying to get information on the company and how the product is produced and I‘m getting nowhere. I am kicking myself and feel guilty because it must have traveled very far if it was made in China and I’m in the US, and the fact that I can’t find any info on them makes me worry it’s not a sustainable or ethical company. I’ve been reaching out to the seller, but so far have gotten no more info. They could be a totally green and ethical company, but I want to know for sure next time. I have been doing the best I know how to research companies and products before making purchases but obviously am not great at it yet. Perhaps you have pointers for us. Things that might flag us that it’s an ethical or unethical company, how to know that the things they say on their websites about how wonderful they are aren’t just them green washing, etc. Thanks so much! <3 Much love to you and Madison ....وسعت 5

@justannalena7512منذ 4 سنوات It is happening in our country! I live in Germany and I know we have our history especially with antisemitism but racism is a thing everywhere in the world, id="hidden60" class="buttons"> I think. The USA is the hot pot at the moment but it is boiling everywhere and it leaves me in tears that we just find out now, that racism is everywhere. Let's raise our voice for the world, for our planet it is our future and we can design it our ways if we try hard enough! WE ARE THE CHANGE but we have to go the long way in being peaceful. But there are enough examples that being peacful doesn't mean to be successful and the other way around. In USA it is worst, but in every country there is a bit of racism. Stay safe, stay edjucated❤️ ....وسعت 2

@duckyluver12منذ 4 سنوات #3 is so true. We finally bought a new mattress after 10 years and a lot of back pain. So naturally I did my research and found a brand that had no flame id="hidden61" class="buttons"> retardants, all organic natural materials, made ethically and sustainably and handmade.just ticks all the boxes literally, and my husband saw the price and was like DAMN. We're not paying that for a mattress. And I was like okay dude.so we're planning on spending every night for 10 years on this mattress. Do you want to feel guilty every night of your life for 10 years knowing how manufacturing your mattress impacted people and the planet (not exactly in those words.)? He did some research of his own and came to the realization that yeah, we should care about the people who are physically making the things we buy. ....وسعت
