Trump Workshopping Nicknames for 2024 Primary Opponent DeSantis

Former President Donald Trump is reportedly workshopping several more nicknames for his upcoming primary opponent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.[0] Ron DeSanctimonious, the former President, has been utilizing his name to criticize his potential opponent in the 2024 race.[1] Bloomberg recently released a report stating that President Trump has chosen a few potential nicknames, such as "Tiny D," "Ron Dishonest," and "Ron DeEstablishment," from which to select.[1] Trump has long been targeting DeSantis as a possible 2024 presidential contender, attacking him in speeches and on his social media platform Truth Social.[2] Trump has previously branded DeSantis “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Meatball Ron” ― but neither has really stuck.[3] The New York Times reported that Trump also "has insulted Mr. DeSantis in casual conversations," calling him "Meatball Ron" or "Shutdown Ron".[4] Now, according to Bloomberg, Trump is entertaining the idea of calling DeSantis “Tiny D,” “Ron DisHonest,” and “Ron DeEstablishment.”[5] Trump denied a February 12 report from The New York Times that said he was considering the nickname “Meatball Ron” for DeSantis.[4] The report comes as DeSantis has been mocked for wearing “high heels” at his latest appearance, and as the average U.S. president is about two inches taller than the average U.S. man, who is 5’9”. Since the time of President Jimmy Carter (5’9.5”), each and every president has been at least 5’11.5” in height. It has been nearly 130 years since a president shorter than the average man was elected, with William McKinley being the last to take that title.[6] Chris Christie, a former Donald Trump ally, recently mocked Trump’s ability to draw a crowd at CPAC with the quip, “That room was half-full.”[7] It remains to be seen whether Trump’s latest nickname for DeSantis will stick, but it’s likely that the former president will continue to target his potential rival in the upcoming election. 0.
