Moving to Hawaii | First Night at the Hilton Hawaiian Village

Moving to Hawaii! Flying Iut and spending our first day at the Hawaiian Hilton Village. Today is moving day! We are PCSing to Hawaii! Schofield Barracks on the Island of Oahu. And gosh has it taken a long time. Such a stressful and complicated move! But overall we feel like we won the lottery. This is one of those duty stations your recruiter tells you about but many never get. Command Sponsorship took such a long time, but it was finally approved and in this episode the girls and I pack up, ship everything out, the household goods, the oversized van, the dogs, and us and all our carry on luggage. I've never had so much checked bags before! We made it to the airport and headed out to meet John, my husband, who has already been in Hawaii for the 4 months. He had to live in the barracks until we arrived. Our first few days will be on Waikiki Beach between the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki and the Hale Koa, the military resort on Waikiki. Both of which are TLA approved hotels. The dogs will go through the 5 day quarantine process and then when we pick them up we will switch to the Inn at Schofield. Till then let's enjoy the beach! 🪖 If you new to our channel, John re-enlisted in the military after being out for ten years. Kind of crazy. But John was a Marine and he loved the Marines. Afghanistan Veteran. The only reason he got out was for me. Back before online jobs or school, he gave up the Marines and allowed me to start my career. I had an amazing career spending years growing and working with Target as a Store Director. But with Covid came many changes. One of those was to stay home and homeschool Alexandra. And so it opened the door for John to do whatever he wanted to do. He re-enlisted, but this time we both agreed the Army. But after being out so long, John had to go through Basic training again or OSUT. Six months of that followed by waiting for command sponsorship for our first OCONUS move and the family has been apart for 10 months. Crazy considering this wasn't a deployment.
