This video covers the entire process of replacing the rear struts on a 2004-2008 Acura TL. This procedure is also very similar to the 2003-2008 Honda Accord. This is Episode 2 in the Acura TL Series. Episode 1: /watch/8bJu4onw_Ipwu Episode 3: /watch/4R4-pTOwfT3w- If you don’t have a decent spring compressor, I recommend using complete strut assemblies, or, after you remove the struts from your vehicle, take them to a shop to have them swap the struts over for you. Coil springs can be very dangerous if not handled properly. @paullenzen2562منذ 5 سنوات If you buy the links the old ones will come right out. If you don't have them you'll need them and your project went from 1 day to 3 days because id="hidden2" class="buttons"> its either Saturday and the parts place can't get them till Monday afternoon or, they have to be sent or ordered from the warehouse on other side of the country.
Its a rule! (Murphy chapter 7 thing I think).
Keep these kinds of things coming.

@killahsi2003منذ 5 سنوات If you were to remove the sway bar bushings in the rear you can move the whole away bar out of the way and clear the strut. Saves you time and personally I end up fighting the end links for hours and end tearing them apart. 11

@TimTurner115منذ 5 سنوات Great job sir. Wish I would have had a strut spring compressor like that back in my day.
one thing I used to do was put Dawn dishwashing liquid id="hidden11" class="buttons"> on the bushings before I reinstalled. It would keep the squeak and put a protective coating over the rubber bushings.
I do not know if anyone still practice that

  • @
@muhammedmalik6640منذ 5 سنوات Eric you have to give us a before and after driving impression with the new struts.
Thanks for the link, can't believe you get the whole oem id="hidden12" class="buttons"> assembly for just $200 dollars. That's one of the reasons I prefer honda products. I had a early 2000's Toyota avalon and that same oem assembly of parts cost over $400(online dealer pricing). That year avalon was basically a camry. In fact KYB, Monroe have the same part# for both. The final blow was when I got the struts they said made in mexico, by sachs. I realize large manufactures have invested heavily in mexico and they are producing good products, but Japanese made in preferred especially when you consider the high price.
Honda is just far more committed to provided oem parts at reasonable pricing.

Those Allen sockets collect water and dirt like it's nobody's business, which can't happen if it is already filled with grease. ....وسعت

  • @
@trew3807منذ 2 سنوات In the Acura service manual, they have the rubber bushings opposite of what you show in the video. The rubbers are pyramid shaped, and when installed they id="hidden25" class="buttons"> should form a football shape. The way it look like you installed them is more hour glass shaped.
It seems intuitive to do it the hour glass way like you did, the mount plate looks like they should go in the hour glass way, but the manual calls for the opposite. Doing it the hour glass way causes the rubber to flair out as you tighten the top nut, deforming it, causing accelerated wear.
