It's Oshogatsu in August! We are going to talk about how our Oshogatsu traditions have been handed down, how this celebration has shaped our Japanese American identity, and the ways that we, as Yonsei (and friends), have made these traditions our own. We want to acknowledge the time and place from which this tradition was started, but we also want to reflect on the way that our Oshogatsu has been enhanced by the way it has been reinterpreted and reimagined over time and by the new meanings that are found generation by generation. Sunday Supper is a Tadaima! segment that features Japanese dishes with stories and traditions that are attached to them.
