@laurakelly3543منذ 4 سنوات I took this exercise today (both actually!) and really enjoyed it -- especially the 2nd one with the non-dominant hand.
(becca -- my question was id="hidden1" class="buttons"> EERILY similar to yours, it was "should I push through this next bit or slow down a little..?" so weird!)
and what I drew was almost all loose circles and swirls, all curved lines. and during it, I remember feeling like I was gripping too hard on the pen and I said in my head "just ease up on the grip a bit," not even realizing how that connected back to my question. for me that really represented how what I'm doing is NOT a straight line, but really a fluid movement that includes lots of ups and downs.
thank you so much for this, emily! such a soothing experience and I really loved it!

@AdorkableArtist92منذ 4 سنوات This is awesome! I'm an art therapy student almost finished with my second year of a three-year master's degree program. I'm so glad to see id="hidden2" class="buttons"> a youtuber talking about art therapy and including a registered art therapist in the conversation. So often I see things being marketed as "art therapy," but what makes art therapy true art therapy is when the process is being facilitated by a registered art therapist. Art can be soothing and healing for all, but art therapists are trained professionals who can help guide people through artistic processes and help them deal with trauma and triggers that come forth during the session, as well as any negative responses to a particular art medium (not all art media is appropriate for every population. Art therapy students study something called the Expressive Therapies Continuum, which helps us determine someone's level of creative functioning and decide what media and art directive will be appropriate for their level of functioning). ....وسعت 9

@_ieeei_منذ 4 سنوات This was really, really great and I am truly grateful for it! I’ve felt particularly stressed in the past few days without even really being able to identify a specific cause, feeling just “weird” without knowing what to do about it. I just did both of Emily’s exercises and I honestly feel so much better and clearer about what’s bugging me and what I can do about it! I am also super intrigued by my unconscious choice of colors and shapes. this actually reminds me a little of my relational counsellor, whom I visited just for a few months a couple of years ago. She saw a certain healing potential in me through a blank notebook, too, and that notebook is now one of the most precious expressions of myself I have. I didn’t even know that art therapy was a “proper” thing but, like Becca said, it makes SO MUCH SENSE! So thanks a ton for this amazingly helpful talk!! And yes please, a 2.0 at some point would be truly wonderful!!! ....وسعت 1

@craftycoachwill4599منذ 4 سنوات This is AMAZING! I'm new in the calligraphy world, but I've been journaling my whole life. To tie the two together artistically has been awesome, id="hidden8" class="buttons"> but now to tie them together in a cathartic way has really opened some emotional doors for me. I did the guidance exercise and it's so effective at trying to come to terms with some emotions I've been dealing with. Thank you for this! ....وسعت 2
