Hello dear friends, today we learn how to make crispy pazhampori. In this video I have demonstrated the simplest method to make pazham pori ( Ethaka boli / പഴം പൊരി /banana fritters) with very few ingredients. Pazham pori is an easy to cook snack which does not require any great cooking experience. Pazham pori is an all time favorite snack of malayalees.
This is my mother’s recipe for the pazhampori lovers. Do try it out sometime and tell me how you liked it. It goes very well with beef roast / beef fry / fish curry / chutney. Ingredients
1. Ripe plantain / Banana – 4-5 nos
2. All purpose flour / maida - 2 cups
3. Rice flour - 1/2 cup
4. Baking soda - 1/2 tspn
5. Sugar - 2 tspn
6. Sesame seeds - 1 tspn
7. Salt - 1 pinch
8. Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
9. Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
10. Oil for fry
Method:-
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, maida, baking soda, salt, turmeric powder, sesame seeds, cumin seeds and sugar. Stir well to combine.
2. Add little water at a time and make a thick batter such that it smoothly coats the back of the spoon.
3. Cut the banana into thin long stripes and keep aside.
4. Heat the oil in a kadai for deep frying and keep it ready.
5. Once the oil is hot, dip the banana slices in the batter until well coated and carefully slide it into the hot oil.
6. Deep fry the Kerala Pazham Pori / ethaka boli till it is golden brown and crisp on both sides.
7. Drain the Kerala Pazham Pori / ethaka boli from the oil and place it on a kitchen paper napkin to drain excess oil.
8. Serve hot with beef roast / beef fry / fish curry / chutney.
