@kinpat8825منذ 3 سنوات Long ago, in the 80s, actor Shabana Azmi was approached by dir Vijaya Mehta, for a movie called Pestonji. Being apprehensive about her own colour Shabana id="hidden1" class="buttons"> kept extending the agreement. Pastonji was based at the backdrop of Parsi community, in India, ironically most Parsis being white. She spoke her apprehensions with the director, after which the director backed off. Days later, Vijayaji, the director organized a party at her home and invited Shabana for the party. Upon reaching the party, Vijayaji told that this is an all Parsi party, so relax and come on in. 10 minutes later Vijayaji took Shabana to a corner and whispered, comfortable now? Can you see a lot of people in the party are dark and yet they are Parsis. This is how, she brought Shabana onboard and boy, you gotta watch her performance in Pastonji, it's a masterpiece. Wonder who infects this bug of preconceptions in our society, when at all they are far from reality ....وسعت 52

@blahblah1939منذ 3 سنوات Nandita was talking about actors like Kajol and SRk who have lightened themselves over their years and you can see it now in their complexions and they id="hidden11" class="buttons"> are mainstream actors with a lot of influence and power however they were still probably pressured and heavily influenced. @rex6rocksمنذ 3 سنوات Parents i think feel the same pressure for their children, thats why they do that.
    Im a male and dark-skinned.
I did hear a lot of comments id="hidden12" class="buttons"> on my skin from my own mother.
And the cliche phrase all indian moms use 'you wont get a good partner'
I can sympathize with the young girls :( I hear a lot but its not even as close to the discrimination that the ladies face.
I hope this shit ends as the time progresses.
Rick is right, everything is connected to the products people keep buying. But the pressures of society is sometimes too much.
When a parent keeps telling you that you're not enough for years and years. you tend to believe them. So i dont have a solution to this. but i have faith that with the new generation of people, this is changing. :)

@nilakhanolkar267منذ 3 سنوات Films are a reflection of the society. The society needs to change for the films to change. That being said, films and actors heavily influence society id="hidden24" class="buttons"> and hence can be the leaders of such change. At least with social media, people are questioning actors and actresses who endorse such opinions. The ott platforms are also playing a big role in getting actors and actresses who act rather than just by their looks. Hopefully things change for the better and the future generations are in a better place and not pressured due to the colour of their skin. ....وسعت 14

@st.mephisto8564منذ 3 سنوات Just one caveat guys and this is to anyone reading this! "You're beautiful the way you are" is true for making you the best version of yourself, id="hidden32" class="buttons"> not "your mess is not a mess". This has definitely nothing to do with hiding your natural skin colour.
But this advice can be dangerously tilted towards justifying lazy or unhealthy lifestyle choices or fixable medical conditions. Choices which are neither normal for your health nor fit a sense of objective beauty. And this is applicable to both genders! Avoid extremes of both and choose moderation.
