@travisstarbuck4496منذ 4 سنوات SRV vs Eddie this IS NOT FAIR. They both had different approaches to music. The technical virtuosity of EVH is perfect. SRV soul and nailing the landing id="hidden2" class="buttons"> is freaking amazing. But too truley examine the two, listen to their rhythm. They are both are equal. SRV with his texas shuffle and EVH with his up beat one of a kind rock shuffle which was Van Halen's soul. RIP both of the guitar masters. At least they were recorded so we all can reminisce on how great the 80's was. ....وسعت 68

@standepainمنذ 4 سنوات The crazy thing is Eddie probably wouldn't have even been able to play Stevie's guitars.especially early 80s when he was using 13 gauge strings. Both goddamn legends! 18

@bconni2منذ 4 سنوات i love EVH and everything he's contributed to the music world. i became a VH fan in 1981 when i first listened to the Fair Warning album, i was blown id="hidden4" class="buttons"> away. that said, SRV is in a totally different class. i just connect with his sound more than i do EVH. ....وسعت 16

@cristianconnolly2709منذ 4 سنوات The most important question is who do you like better. The least important question is who do you consider the best (influence, equipment, technique, how id="hidden5" class="buttons"> different they sounded from the ones before etc "feeling" is subjective by the way). Who do i like? I love both. Whos objectively the best? EVH no doubt. ....وسعت 9

@shirleybuffington6420منذ 4 سنوات I said SRV all the way let’s see Eddie Van Halen put the guitar behind him and play it without missing a beat he is good at playing it in front but I have never seen him play behind his back . 21

@mikegoldstein1246منذ 4 سنوات And anyone who says Eddie doesnt play with any feel is dumb as shit.listen to the isolated guitar tracks from every Van Halen song and it will blow your mind. Eddie's sense of rythm is other worldly 6

@zemlidrakona2915منذ 3 سنوات Note SRV is playing Jimi Hendrix not his own music. And EVH isn't really playing a song, he's just noodling around. IMO, a better comparison would be each playing their own songs. 4
  • @
@derrickdavis2012منذ 4 سنوات Both were beasts. One is a known guitar soloist extraordinaire, the other is an all around bad ass musician, singer, guitar player, and music writer. 3
  • @
@robertthibodeau7005منذ 4 سنوات This isn't very fair. Stevie is playing an actual song, where as Eddie is doing a solo. To do a true battle, they would both have been on the same id="hidden10" class="buttons"> stage at the same time (that woulda been a HELL of a show). The only other way would have if SRV played a Van Halen song vs Eddie playing an SRV tune. ....وسعت 5

@jakeritchie3805منذ 3 سنوات Let ask the 100000 dollar question. could eddie play eruption with 13 gauge stri gs? Long live the ki g of six strings SRV. But eddie was amazing himself 1

  • @
@exceleraterمنذ 3 سنوات Stevie always gets my vote but Eddie created so much innovation in his guitar and the way it's played. Too bad they never got together and played. All the best axemen are dead. Kinda sad. 1
  • @
@JohnDoe-ks4idالعام الماضي Why only show rhythm tracks from SRV and solos from EV? Bad comparison.
  • @
@LS-ki9ftمنذ 2 سنوات Love them both and miss them both. I'm not a guitar player, so I'm just stating what I feel here. If there is a difference for me, it is that Stevie id="hidden22" class="buttons"> Ray was still creating and innovating all the way to the end, while Eddie just seemed to be really musically stagnant and tired during the last couple of decades of his life.
For example, the last song on In Step, which was entitled "Riveria Paradise", Stevie seemed to be developing into maybe more of a jazz-rock fusion type of player.
In the end, Van Halen, sadly was more about the drama rather than the music. The Roth-Hagar-Cherone-Hagar-Roth thing got really tiring after a while.
Finally, it really is unfair to compare, because they were both unique and different. Lucky for us, both artists' music will live forever.

@Thomas-qe7ezمنذ 2 سنوات EVH was an unbelievably talented guitarist. But… SRV was ALL IN on every single practice session, much less an actual performance. To SRV, the guitar was somehow spiritual. 1
  • @
@stephenboyes5189منذ 3 سنوات hendrix owns them both,,,for me i would eddie because hes more unique but you are looking top 5 of all time all of em its down to personal preference 1
  • @
@mikegaddis7481منذ 4 سنوات Love both.SRV could snatch that guitar from EVH hands if he wanted to (SRV is way too humble to do that) and embarrass him.
  • @
@DonDon-ju4yvمنذ 4 سنوات maybe not fair to compare these two.so i'll take advantage of that. SRV is a wild freakn bull in a china shop.eddie is an amazing second runner id="hidden24" class="buttons"> up. SRV moves.and makes your body and mind do cartwheels.eddie makes you nod.
SRV can solo and carry a show. eddie eventually needs a band to fill in. SRV is the turtle.eddie the hare.
SRV is grit and sweat - Eddie is simpler to learn. I started playing his style at 13.and to this day have a hard time not breaking fingers to SRV.
But eddie is amazing. but this is how it plays out. Ask a guitarist and they will tell you. SRV is dad. Period

@jupitermoongauge4055منذ 2 سنوات Everything Stevie played stands alone on its musicality regardless of his technique. I'm not sure you could say that about Eddie's playing. • @
@AMM0beatzمنذ 2 سنوات EVH is high level art form. Vaughn is for partying.
  • @
@shatterpoe1802منذ 3 سنوات First of all no disrespect to SRV he was one of the best but lemme debunk this once and for all, first lets start with how they got to where they're id="hidden27" class="buttons"> peak, Stevie worked incredibly hard to get where he was and so did Eddie, but Eddie was more natural and excelled a lot faster than steve, next we'll go with style, it isn't really fair to compare the style because it's based on what music you like better, Eddie has a much better technique and even created multiple guitar techniques, you might say that stevie has more soul, well overall he plays more soul grabbing music, but if you were to listen to the full 13 minute eddie solo, you'll come to find in his intro that he has no problem making a mind blowing, soul grabbing melody, but that's just not his preferred style. Sure steve can continue playing with a broken string, but eddie was so good that he never even broke a string at a show. Eddie also played all of that 13 minutes with only his guitar and no other band mates joined in until the last 30 seconds to give the fans a good outro, while stevie on the other hand needed a whole band to back him up the entire time. Now i'm not trying to insult anyone by any means, i'm just trying to prove that Eddie Van Halen was the greatest guitar player in history. RIP SRV and EVH ....وسعت 1
  • @
@yotaman2112منذ 4 سنوات Totally unfair comparison. Almost the same comparison as who’s the best sprinter versus the best long distance runner. They both are extremely talented in their respective genre. I personally am partial to SRV , but I would never say he’s “better”. Stevie would also be the first to tell you he’s not better than anyone including the ones he’s been told he was better than Bb King or Jimmy Hendrix. Stevie is too humble for this comparison. ....وسعت 19

@alejandrotang786منذ 3 سنوات The electric guitar helps EDV to make a good picking technique. Imagine himself playing an acoustic guitar, he can’t handle it.

  • @
@alejandrotang786منذ 3 سنوات EDV plays every chord of the guitar, without building any structured melody. At least Jimmy Page’s picking technique builds a rhythm, a structured song. EDV is full noise. 1
