The merchant begs the Genie to give him some time to live so he can say his goodbyes and get things in his life right. The Genie gives the man 12 months to come back to the fountain. While the merchant was waiting, three men came and sat down with him and they got to know each other. When the Genie came back, all three of the men told a story to make the Genie take away the merchants punishment.
