Union Oyster House, Bell in Hand Tavern, and Quincy Market were a few of the places we visited during our layover in Boston.
We had only planned to spend a few hours in Boston, but due to cancelled flights we had an afternoon to spend exploring Boston. Instead of just sitting at the airport until our next flight, we decided to take the subway into downtown Boston to have lunch and do a little exploring until we had to return back to the airport.
The Union Oyster House opened in 1826 and is the oldest continuously operated restaurant in America. Not only is it famous for clam chowder and lobster rolls, but it also has a rich history. The building is filled with interesting artifacts, so if you visit be sure to take some time to wander around and learn more about it.
Another place close to the Union Oyster House is the Bell in Hand Tavern. It opened in 1795 and is America's oldest tavern. It was nice to sit on the patio and enjoy the nice Boston summer weather.
We didn't eat at Quincy Market, but we did walk around and check out the food and retail stalls located in the building.
Before we knew it, it was time to head back the airport for our flight to LAX and then to Costa Rica.
We'll be going back to Boston in September, so we'll get to check out more places in Boston in about a month.
