A rhythm from Japan for jamming, playing along tracks or to use as a starting base for improvisation.
In Japanese, Matsuri means Festival, and this rhythm is a basic part of them. Taking the basic pattern as the starting point, each festival / region / ensemble builds its own groove. Matsuri is usually played on a Taiko, supported by smaller drums and, as with most of Japanese drumming, the visual performance of the drummer(s) is of great importance.
