Do Białego Rana is a magical Polish Winter's Night with Polish Folkloric Ensemble TATRY of Adelaide. The play is called "Walking with the Turoń. Turoń is a mythical creature from Polish folklore, having roots in ancient Slavic winter rites. It is representing dark forces of nature but also the fertility and abundance of nature. Polish peasants were creating the costume of the turoń for centuries, mainly for the season of koliadas around the turn of the year that used to be connected to the ancient celebrations of the winter solstice and days growing longer. It’s a custom that shows remnants of the ancient rites acknowledging the state of hibernation of nature and determining the first stages of preparations for the rebirth of nature - followed by rites of “chasing the winter away” for the arrival of spring.
