This spinster female of Northern Pintail (Anas acuta, family Anatidae) wasn't courted by bachelor males somehow. I wonder if she had not sexually matured yet. She drank water from a winter river before and after preening herself. Captured in the cloudy midafternoon of early-January 2020 in Japan.
