An oddity from the charity shop. A toy car fitted with an electric motor but no apparent way of powering it !! It has now :-) Supercapacitor 2.7 volts 5 Farads I have just noticed there is a small exit point at the edge of the chassis so I bet there was a cable that linked the electric motor to an external power supply, probably with forward/backward buttons on it. If you have a question it is probably worth reading this video description first because the answer may already be here. To help you find my videos I made two search guides /watch/wgcHOoOSBecSH or /watch/kRYwkwgU4jZUw or checkout my playlists page /user/GrandadIsAnOldMan/playlists?flow=grid&view=1 Filmed using FujiFilm FinePix S4800 Edited using Serif MoviePlus Starter Edition I regularly visit charity shops looking for items that may interest my grandchildren or could be broken down into parts for projects. I thought it might make an interesting subject for YouTube if I recorded my findings as "Gold" or "Garbage". My opinion of charity shops is that you have a 50/50 chance of buying junk or on the positive side you have a 50/50 chance of picking up a bargain. Typically you could buy a jigsaw puzzle and you won't know until you finish whether it has all the pieces. A simple toy car can probably be checked in the shop, does it have 4 wheels and does it run along the floor if you push it. Anything more complicated probably cannot be checked until you get home. The supercapacitors I used came from Maplin Electronics. I am not endorsing these products I am just answering the questions people have asked. http://www.maplin.co.uk/c/components/capacitors/super-capacitors Here's an eBay link for a 2.7v 10F supercapacitor I bought that cost me £5.66 for 2 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251694354652 Here is a great video demonstration by Electric Experiments Roobert33 of Capacitor and superCapacitor DC /watch/U8NGcSrzogZzG Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercapacitor Related playlists Charity Shop Gold or Garbage playlist /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB14bwwnAIt54ZWwWBktc445 Electric Toy Cars /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB0yTUYmJSS3ML5xxaBzHl3e Supercapacitor planes /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB1wNvirrwAn69eo_pM0tdEM I have thousands of videos on YouTube covering a wide range of subjects. To find them follow my search guides /watch/wgcHOoOSBecSH or /watch/kRYwkwgU4jZUw or see my playlists page /user/GrandadIsAnOldMan/playlists?flow=grid&view=1 Generally my projects are for my grandchildren to enjoy. OK, I enjoy them too. If anybody else likes them, that is a bonus. I like to keep my work as simple and basic as possible so that it can be copied easily and improved by anybody who wants to try themselves. I recycle or repurpose items rather than buy new and when I do buy I like to keep it cheap. /user/GrandadIsAnOldMan
