The Candidates 2020-21 resumes at Ekaterinburg, Russia from the 19th to the 28th of April 2021. Until now 13 rounds have been played and these are the standings: Nepo 8.5 Anish - 7.5 MVL - 7 Caruana - 7 Grischuk - 6.5 Ding Liren - 6 Wang Hao - 5 Kiril Alekseenko - 4.5 The time control is 100 minutes for the first 40 moves, 50 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game; plus a 30-second increment per move starting from move 1. The tournament was played in March 2020, but was interrupted by Corona virus. Half of the event has been completed, half remains to be played. The winner of the tournament is Ian Nepomniachtchi, with one round to spare and he will challenge Magnus Carlsen for the World Title later in the year in 2021.
