If they find me sleeping, they throw stones at me. They try to anger me so that I can roar at them.” Hattu said, “We have to teach these human beings a lesson. I have an idea. Lets do strike. We will stay in our rooms. We won’t come outside. Let this human beings know that we are angry with them.” Hallu said, “How will they hurt us when they can’t see us?” They all agreed for strike and went to their cages. The next day was Sunday. There was a big rush at the zoo. Many school students came in the zoo to see the animals. A crowd of grown ups were with them. But there were no animals in the cage. All wanted to know what happened to animals but they were unable to guess. However a nine year old girl, Nivedita could guess the right reason. She said to her friend, Shelly, “The animals are tried of being teased by us. I wish there were some way we could show them that we care about them.” Shelly said, “I have an idea. Let’s take the whole class for this work.” For three days all classmates spent their spare time painting a big banner with the words, “We love you, animals. We shall not tease you again.” When the banner was ready, they carried it to the zoo and took it from one cage to the other. All the animals felt much better after reading it. They thought the children cared for them. So they came into the open space of their cages.
